Your numbers, from your name and your birth date

Numerology is the one part of this product that needs no birth time and no birth place. Two fields, and every number the tradition reads — Mulank, Bhagyank, the name numbers, the Lo Shu grid and what is missing from it.

The letters of the name you were given at birth are what the system reads. If you use a different name today, that is a separate calculation and the full report covers both.

Date of birth

No birth time and no birth place — numerology needs neither. Nothing is stored: your name and date are turned into numbers and dropped. 18 or over only.

Worth saying plainly

What these numbers are, and are not

  • They are arithmetic on a name and a date. Every figure below is reproducible: add the digits, reduce, read the table. Nothing here is computed from the sky, and numerology and astrology are two different systems that this product keeps apart.
  • Spelling changes the answer. A name number is a function of letters, so a transliteration choice — Aarav or Arav, Sharma or Sharmaa — gives a different number. That is a real property of the system and not a flaw in this calculator, and it is why the full report computes every variant of your name rather than picking one.
  • No date is readable from a number. Personal year, month and day are cycles, not forecasts. Anything dated you have been told a number carries was invented.
  • It says nothing about your health, your money or anyone else. The tradition attaches a great deal to these numbers. We describe what it attaches and stop there.

The other half

Your numbers are one of the two systems this site computes. The other needs your birth time and place, and gives you your rising sign, your Moon, the period running over you now and the patterns the classical texts name.

Questions people ask

What is the difference between Mulank and Bhagyank?

Mulank is reduced from the day of the month you were born on, so everyone born on the same date shares it. Bhagyank is reduced from the whole date, day and month and year together, so it is narrower. Both are arithmetic you can check by hand, and the page shows the working rather than only the answer.

Does the spelling of my name change my numbers?

Yes, and it is worth sitting with what that means. Add or drop a letter and the name number changes, which tells you the system is reading the spelling rather than the person. The numbers are shown here for what they are: a described tradition with a stated method, not a measurement of anybody.

What is the Lo Shu grid, and what do the missing numbers mean?

It places the digits of your birth date into a three-by-three square, so some cells fill and some stay empty. The tradition reads both the repetitions and the gaps. What it is not is a diagnosis, and no gap in this grid describes a deficiency in a person.

Should I change the spelling of my name to improve my numbers?

That is a service a great deal of this industry sells and it is not one offered here. Since the numbers follow the spelling, a changed spelling changes them by construction, which makes the improvement circular. Nothing on this page should be used to decide what to call yourself or a child.

Is numerology part of my birth chart?

No. Numerology is reduced from your name and date by arithmetic, with nothing computed from the sky. Astrology is computed from planetary positions and needs a time and a place. They are two separate systems and this product keeps them apart rather than blending them into one score.
